- Dr. Kenan "was in the West Virginia Campaign and was at Romney when General Rosecrans, of the United States Army, was severely wounded. It was Dr. Kenan who volunteered his services at that time and gave add to the injured man. Kenan of Genl Walkers Staff having applied for a Certificate on which to ground an application for a leave of absence, I do hereby certify that I have examined this officer and find him unfit for the duties of his office because of general ill health. He is dyspeptic and very much emaciated. As a change of Climate will be beneficial in his Case, I recommend for him a leave of absence for the period of thirty (30) days. J. A.
