Kenneth Warren Knell, 83, was a son of Charles and Maude Miller Knell. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. He married Dorothy Denne on Aug. 29, 1942 in Gibson City. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Philip Knell and Denne Knell; a daughter, Suzanne Knell; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Knell attended high school in Gibson City and graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor's, a master's and advanced certificate degrees.

He served as a first lieutenant in the Army during World War II. He was in the Battle of the Bulge and fought through Germany. He was awarded the Bronze Star and three Battle Stars.

Mr. Knell taught vocational agriculture at Mahomet-Seymour High School for 19 years. He also was an instructor for two years at the University of Illinois in the Citizens Advisory Council. He finished his working career as a regional vocational director for the state of Illinois in Springfield.

Mr. Knell was a member of Mahomet United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Mahomet Lions Club, a longtime member of the Mahomet American Legion and a member of the University of Illinois Alumni Association.
