MARION, Va. Wade Shelby Johnson Sr., age 80, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2015 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Bristol, Tenn. Mr. Johnson was born in Seven Mile Ford to the late George Harrison and Mary Ella Snow Johnson. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Bessie Elizabeth Parks Johnson; and his siblings, Gordon Johnson, George Johnson, Hobert Johnson, Leslie Johnson, Mattie Shorey, Evelyn Johnson, Mary Patrick, and Grace Olsen. Wade was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed working in his garden. He especially loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and being with his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Johnson of Marion; children, Shelby Johnson and wife, Sallie, of Glade Spring, Rodney A. Johnson of Flatridge and fianc‚e, Robin Brownley, of Cheriton, Va., Wayne Johnson and wife, Denise, of Marion, Robert Johnson and fianc‚e, Nellie Blevins, of Marion, Michael Bickley of Marion, Theresea Bickley and fianc‚, Kelly Bowles, of Texas, Roger Dale Smith of Salem, and Mary DeFrehn of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Benita Cunningham and husband, Greg, of South Carolina, Karen Hoover and husband, Greg, of Indiana, Pam Lloyd of Glade Spring, Jennifer Lloyd of Glade Spring, Sarah Jackson and husband, Creig, of Glade Spring, Whitney Waller and husband, Adam, of Fries, Andy Johnson of Marion, Joanne DeFrehn of Pennsylvania, Allison Bickley of Wise, Joseph Fenton of Texas, Heather Smith of Salem, Katie Smith of Salem, and John Smith of Pennsylvania; 12 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Louis "Dick" Roten. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, November 13, 2015 from the Bradley's Funeral Home Chapel of Marion with Pastor Don Mutter and Pastor Mike Sage officiating. Entombment will follow in the Rose Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum with full military honors rendered by the Francis Marion V.F.W Post 4667. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. prior to the service. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com.
