James C. "Jay" Jarrell, son of the late J. H. Jarrell and Evelyn Hutchcraft Jarrell, was born on April 22, 1928 in Dudley, Missouri and departed this life on November 10, 2015 at SoutheastHEALTH in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 87.

Mr. Jarrell was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dexter and he and his wife were owners of Jay's Music Company in Dexter for many years. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a resident of Dexter.

On October 6, 1947, he was united in marriage to Alice Hall in Piggott, Arkansas. Mrs. Jarrell survives of the home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jerry Jarrell and wife Vicky and Denny Jarrell and wife Paula, all of Dexter, Missouri; by two brothers, T. L. Jarrell and Dean Jarrell, both of Dudley, Missouri; by four sisters, Dorothy Kinworthy of Dexter, Missouri, Melba Dewrock of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Louise Abbott of Dudley, Missouri and Janice Patterson of Dexter, Missouri; by four grandchildren, Julie Jarrell Welker, Molly Jarrell Miller, Alison Jarrell and Jason Jarrell; and by three great-grandchildren, Henry Welker, Lucy Miller and Bode Welker.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, November 13, 2015 from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Funeral services will follow in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel at 11:00 A.M. with Dr. Barry Winders officiating. Interment will follow in the Dudley Cemetery.
