Ivan Brown was born, June 11 1924 in a small town in Iowa. He was the surviving, twin of Floyd and Rose Brown. Growing up in this small town, his father a man that was very talented, a Jack of all trades and master of each one, passed on his trade to his son. His mother, a school teacher and very active in the Methodist church, took care of his education. Growing up he stayed very busy. He was involved in the school band, the chorus and church choir. In the summer when school was out, he would help with the farm chores and the animals. He had a pet goat that would pull a wagon sometimes they would work odd jobs or help his parents. When he got older he was the life guard at the public pool. After high school he inlisted in the Army Air Corps. where he was belly gunner on the "All American" a B 24 bomber. Then he took a leave of absent long enough to complete some courses, at the University of Iowa. Finishing the courses he reinlisted with a Frist Lt. Officers rank. One day on leave while a skating, he met a beautiful lady named Lillian, who became his wife and love of his life. Married in December; Sort of each other's Christmas present, on December 27, 1947. They had six children, Katherine, Victor, Dianna, Gail, Lisa, and Roxanne. Traveling, and seeing different places all together. After 21 years serving his country, he retired. Finished raising all his children in Hialeah Florida. When the children grew up and had families of their own, they decided to move to Jacksonville Fl. where they joined the American Legion, German American club, and the restoring of the B 24 bomber "the All American" the plane Ivan few in during WW11 as a ball turret gunner. But the one thing that made both him and his wife the happiest was ballroom dancing and singing. Ivan was in a Barbershop quartet, Lillian was in the church choir. Both growing up in a house full of music they passed it on to all there children. They also spent their time going to all the military reunions. Ivan is survived not only by his children, but their spouses, thirteen grandchildren, fifteen Great grandchildren, with one on the way, and one great great grandson. There just are not a lot ways to say, How much you are LOVED AND WILL BE MISSED. Keep dancing with mom and singing in her ear Dad. Be at peace and rest. You deserve it. Family and friends will visit on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, FL. from 5 until 7 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 11 AM. Ivan will be buried on Friday, November 13, 2015 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
