A funeral service for Bruce Olson, 65, of New England, will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 13, 2015 at Pierce Congregational Church north of Scranton, ND with Pastor Mary Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation for Bruce will be Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Bruce passed away Monday, November 9, 2015 at his home near New England.

Bruce Alan was born October 3, 1950 in Dickinson, the son of Donald and Donna (Hegge) Olson. Growing up he attended the Humes country school, later going to Enterprise country school through the eighth grade. Bruce graduated from New England Public School in 1968 and continued his education at Dickinson State University for a year. He then earned his degree in geology from the University of ND in Grand Forks and earned a computer science degree from Wahpeton College. Bruce began his 20+ year career in the Cavalier and Walhalla area for a defense contractor. Due to failing health, he returned to the family farm south of New England. He enjoyed raising and showing horses, geology – always having a rock to show and talk about. He enjoyed family gatherings and his nieces and nephews. Bruce was an active member of the Walhalla Presbyterian Church and he served as a deacon.

Bruce is survived by his parents, Donald & Donna Olson of New England; brother, Brad (Anne) Olson of New England; sister, Barbara (Bill) Truchan of Dickinson; nieces, Jennifer Olson of Warren, MN and Jessica Olson of Dickinson; nephew, Michael (Jennifer) Olson of New England.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Art & Josephine Hegge and Alvin & Nellie Olson.
