Anne Tyler Herrington Daniel passed away peacefully at her St. Simons Island home on Monday November 9. She was 64 and died after a several year struggle with Lewy Bodies Dementia (LBD) and Parkinsonism.

A Burke County native, Tyler was raised in Waynesboro, GA, graduated from Waynesboro High School, attended Mercer University and graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Art. A talented educator, she taught art at Roswell High School and in the Glynn County School System, from which she was retired. She built or enhanced excellent art programs at elementary and middle schools locally.

Born April 21, 1951, Tyler was preceded in death by her mother, Anne Johnston Herrington, her father, E. F. 'Buddy' Herrington and an infant older brother E. F. 'Chip' Herrington II, all of Waynesboro, Ga.. She is survived by her two children John Wallace Daniel of Charleston, SC and Elizabeth Anne Daniel of St. Simons Island, husband Roland L. Daniel, brother Ed F. (Susan) Herrington III of Charleston SC, brother James Michael (Susan) Herrington of Evans, GA, A sister Rev. Kit H. Brinson of Waycross, GA, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Tyler grew up in St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Waynesboro and became an active member at St. Simons United Methodist Church for most of her adult life. She was her family's organizer, event planner, decorator and hostess. Always giving of herself, parties she hosted for baptisms and engagements and graduations are legendary at St. Simons Island. Respectful of all and friend of many Tyler lived a Christian life; her witness was always understated yet powerful. Of her many attributes, loyalty and kindness and concern for others were this beautiful woman's trademarks. She was mentor and role model for many young people in her community. Her love for all of us left behind will not wear dull.

The family invites you to a memorial service at 11 am Saturday, November 14, at St. Simons United Methodist Church followed by a reception in the church's social hall. The family will have had a private burial service earlier in the day. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to St. Simons United Methodist Church (www.stsimonsumc.com) or Hospice of the Golden Isles (www.hospice.me).
