Stanley Eugene “Gene” Bishop, Sr., 86, widower of Josephine E. “Betty Jo” (Fox) Bishop of 8234 North Lee Highway passed away Saturday, November 7, 2015 in Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. Bishop was born on September 14, 1929 in Hopewell, a son of the late Mary Bishop.
Gene was a devoted life time member of Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church with over fifty years of service within the church. He was retired from Adams Construction where he was employed as a superintendent and had a true passion for flying as a private pilot and a partner in the former Augusta Aviation.
Surviving are two sons, Stanley Eugene Bishop, Jr. and his wife Elaine of Elkton and William Stuart Bishop and his wife Margaret of Staunton; a grandson, Zachary C. Bishop; two sisters, Nancy Kent of Arlington and Lilly Poveromo of FL; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A Memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church by Rev. Olivia Haney.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church, Post Office Box 8, Steeles Tavern, VA 24476.
