Mr. Markey was born December 25 in Carbondale, the son of the late Richard and Gertrude Gilmartin Markey. He had been employed at Kennedy Van Saun. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the B.P.O.E. Elks, the Washies Fire Company and Friendship Fire Company.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth, a son, Brian, Danville; three daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Suzanne) Tinsley, Danville, Mrs. James (Yvonne) Spade, Harrisburg; Pamela, at home; a brother, Richard, Carbondale and six grandchildren.
A high Mass of Requiem will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Interment will follow in the parish cemetery under the direction of the John J. Brady Funeral Home.
Friends are invited to the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
