Ruth Ann was the daughter of Elijah M. Searls and Rachel Ellen Leach. She married John Wesley Bedwell around 1878. They lived briefly in Missouri and Illinois before moving back to Sullivan County, Indiana. They had the following children: David M., Edward L. "Doc", Elizabeth, Bessie, Harry, Maggie L., John, and Emma. Ruth Ann died between 1900 and 1910.
