Legislator and Jurist. He moved to Missouri, became a lawyer and served as Clerk of the Atchison County Court from 1845 to 1851. He then moved to Iowa, where he was a District Court Judge from 1852 to 1855. Bradford relocated to Nebraska Territory in 1855 and served in the Legislature from 1856 to 1858. He took up residence in Colorado in 1860, and in 1862 he was appointed a Justice of the Territorial Supreme Court, holding his seat on the bench until 1864. He was elected to Congress as a Republican in 1864, serving as Colorado's non-voting Delegate for one term, 1865 to 1867. In 1868 Bradford was again elected to Congress as Colorado's Delegate, serving from 1869 to 1871. He then returned to his Pueblo law practice, which he maintained until his death.
