Russell Chambers, 93, of Winfield, died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at the Scott County Hospital in Oneida. He was born in Scott County on May 5, 1908, and was the son of the late John and Almeda Baker Chambers. He was a member of the Upper Jellico Creek Baptist Church and was a retired land administrator. He also was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Nancy Elizabeth Hatfield Chambers; one daughter, Carol King and husband, Silas, of Cincinnati, Ohio; three sons: Larry Chambers and wife, Kathleen, of Oak Ridge; Sylvester Chambers and wife, Anna Taylor Chambers, of LaVergne; Harold Chambers and wife, Carolyn, of Winfield; one sister, Opal Chambers Perkins of Williamsburg, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home, Oneida, with Rev. Jakie Byrd officiating. Music was provided by the Winfield Baptist Church Choir.
