Larry was born on June 1, 1942, in Niskayuna, New York, a son of the late, Milford and Kasmira (Bednarski) Madison. He was educated at Owen D. Young Central School in Van Hornesville, New York and graduated with the Class of 1960.
Upon his graduation from high school in 1960, Larry enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed at Fort Dix, New Jersey and was later sent to Germany and the Czech Republican Border in Europe as part of his tour as a radio operator. After his years of service, Larry was honorably discharged in 1963. He was proud to be a United States Veteran.
On June 29, 1968, Larry was united in marriage to the former, Donna Jean Johnson at Starkville United Methodist Church. The couple shared a blessed union of 47 years together.
Larry was formerly employed as a polisher for Remington Arms in Ilion, New York. He worked there for 40 years until his retirement in 2008.
Many friends may know Larry as part of the Dolgeville Stewart's morning coffee group where he would enjoy the company of his friends. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. Larry was a talented woodworker. He truly enjoyed creating special pieces for his family to use and enjoy. He would also make wooden cross necklaces, which he would give to a lucky passersby as a gift. He could always be counted on for a friendly smile or helping hand. Larry also loved to fish. It would never matter how big a fish he caught or if he caught anything at all. Most of all, Larry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather to his family and will be missed by his family and friends dearly.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Donna at home; his loving children, Jennifer Farquhar and her husband, Gary Jr. of Salisbury, NY and Larry Madison, Jr. of Little Falls, NY; his cherished grandchildren, Cassandra Madison-Peters and husband, Ethan of San Jose, CA; Gary Farquhar III, Zachary Farquhar, and Jacob Farquhar of Salisbury, NY; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Johnson of Little Falls, NY; a brother, William Madison and his wife, Jan of Stratford, NY; two sisters, Fay Marosek of Little Falls, NY and Phyllis Leonard and her husband, Reid of Michigan; four sisters-in-law and their husbands; several nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
