In the early morning of Monday, November 2, the Lord spread his arms to embrace Kathleen Jones Hampton and lovingly receive her into His kingdom. Thereafter, we are certain that Kathleen, Kathy or Kay Kay (depending on how you chose to call her) began her perfect life in Heaven. She is smiling and saying “Live Life to the Full!” John 10:10

Kathleen was born in Dallas on November 22, 1942 and joined her older sister Barbara as the "Jones girls" of their parents Irwin and Velma Jones. Kathleen was blessed with a daughter, Kerri Hampton Gerrie, her husband Jay, and a son, Kelly James Hampton along with his wife Amy. Those blessings multiplied by six cherished grandchildren, Andrew, Elizabeth, Adam, and Anna Grace Gerrie; and Emma and Charlie Hampton. She celebrated each step they took in life; and relished their special times together being Kay Kay to each of them. Kathleen is also survived by the Holcombe family and many lifelong friends that she counted as family.

Kathleen was a lover of Jesus, her family and friends. She loved life and lived it with a zeal and passion all for the glory of God. Her love for family was extraordinary. She was so proud of her children, grandchildren and nephews. She enjoyed watching them grow in their faith, embark on solid friendships and follow their individual ambitions. The same care transferred to each person she worked with, and came to know through her business successes, her church and faith, and the many organizations through which she spread her love and talents. Her friendships were many and each was as important as the next. Her ability to win battles through the years with grace and trust in her faith were exemplary teachings to those who loved and cared about this wonderful lady.

Kathleen loved her church and the ministry opportunities that God gave her. She was passionate about her small group of the YaYa Sisters and Spirit Sisters. She was delighted to use her God-given gifts to serve the Fellowship of Professional Women both individually and as a Board Member. She was proud to be a graduate of the 8-year Bible Study Fellowship program. At Lovers Lane United Methodist Church she was a tireless volunteer, Board Member of the LLUMC and the Foundation, chair of the sub-committee for the Hospitality Center, and blessed to be a part of the Building Committee for Shipp Chapel. Kathleen is a Spiritual Director having received her Certification from Perkins School of Theology at SMU. She is also a member of the Perkins Roundtable. Confident of her close relationship with the Lord, her favorite promise comes from Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you", declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

In her business life, she was in the field of law for over 30 years, including law firm management at the partnership level. She was the business manager for Baseball Hall of Famer, Mickey Mantle and in later years enjoyed her work as a custom homebuilder, accredited interior designer, antique dealer, real estate agent and her work at Venture Commercial. A past member of the American & Texas Bar Associations, American Society of Interior Design, a 1990 graduate of Leadership Dallas, Hospers Award Winner and 2-time Life Member and Membership Chairwoman for the Greater Dallas Chamber, founding member of Christian Chamber of Commerce as well as Dallas for Children, a supporter of Save the Children, Promise House and Wednesday's Child. She never asked how to do a job; she only wanted to know how to be the best at each and how soon she could achieve success.

Kathleen enjoyed working in her Dad “Jonesy’s” Western Café, and became a “foodie” at an early age. She passed this giftedness to her children and grandchildren where many of her traditions will be carried out for Christmas and Thanksgivings to come. Kathleen was a sports enthusiast. She enjoyed being a club champion tennis player, water skiing, swimming with her grandchildren and watching their games. She was passionate about horse racing and the Dallas Cowboys. Kay Kay was the greatest cheerleader for all her grandchildren! Kathleen loved couture clothing, lots of jewelry, fine wines and the occasions when she had the opportunity to enjoy them. She will have fun watching over us while we attempt to achieve the aspirations she had for each of us - it's just not going to be as much fun for us without her holding our hand.

Thank you for loving Kathleen and living life to the fullest with her. A celebration of her life will be held at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church on Thursday, November 5 at 11 AM followed by a celebration reception at the church at noon. Her favorite charities had a special place in her heart, including Lovers Lane United Methodist Church and Twelfth Step Ministry at LLUMC supporting it’s CSD. Donations can be made online at http://llumc.org/give/ noting preference.
