Served in U.S. Army, enlisted as a Private. Fought in WWI. Artillery Battery E, 8th Regiment, ARD. Died as a result of influenza during the Spanish Flu Pandemic, possibly complicated by wounds suffered in combat. Though death certificate was made out at Camp Jackson (now Fort Jackson), SC on Oct. 3, 1918, he may have died in France.
