Gerald Creed, 62, Rahway
Gerald "Jerry" J. Creed of Rahway died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005, at JFK Medical Center, Edison. He was 62.
Mr. Creed was born in Elizabeth and lived in Rahway for the past 29 years. Mr. Creed was a Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam War era. Mr. Creed was a 1978 graduate of the Newark College of Engineering with a degree in mechanical technology. Mr. Creed worked for Simmons Mattress Co. in Piscataway for the past six months. Mr. Creed worked for Frigidaire Corp. in Edison for 12 years. Mr. Creed was the senior engineer at Singer Manufacturing Co. in Elizabeth for 29 years. Mr. Creed was a communicant of St. Mary R.C. Church, Rahway. Mr. Creed was an active volunteer with the Rahway YMCA for many years.
Mr. Creed is predeceased by his father, William Creed, in 1971, and two brothers, William and Jeffery Creed. Mr. Creed is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kathleen A. (Hoagland) Creed; his mother, Mable (Sheedy) Creed; four children that Mr. Creed raised, Darlene Ammoscato and Kathlene Reed, both of Rahway, and Joelene Ammoscato and Justine LaMendola, both of Howell; a sister, Linda Creed Ammoscato of Howell, and nine grandchildren, Anthony, Alijah, Joseph, William, Lisa, Justyn, Shawn, Joseph and Julia.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lehrer-Gibilisco Funeral Home, 275 W. Milton Ave., Rahway, followed by an 11 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Mary R.C. Church, Rahway. Entombment will take place at Good Shepherd Mausoleum at St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia. Friends may cal 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contriubtions may be made to The Children's Specialized Hospital, 150 New Providence Road, Mountainside, NJ 07092.
