Jerald Ray Crim, 78 years old, of Elgin,Texas, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 5th, 2015. His strong will to live, unwavering faith in God and the love of his family and friends carried him through numerous stays in the hospital and the treatment for kidney disease.

Jerald “Jerry” Crim was born in Lee County, Texas near the Forest Grove Community on February 17th, 1937 to John “Wil” and Ivy Stence Crim. Jerry was accompanied into this world by his twin brother James “Jim” Crim. Jerry and Jim were the youngest of eleven children.

Jerry met and later married Fay Williams of Lexington, Texas on December 10th, 1955. December 10th of this year would have marked their 60th wedding anniversary. Shortly after his graduation from Rockdale High School Jerry went to work in the Oil Fields of West Texas. After relocating to Austin, Texas he began employment with the Steck Warlick Printing Company, later known as Hart Graphics, where he remained employed for the next thirty-five years. Upon retirement he opened and ran several auto service stations in Elgin including Crim’s Exxon, Crim’s Chevron and CrimCo Fina. Jerry had more friends than one could count and was known throughout the community as a caring, giving person, almost to a fault. He would take almost anything in trade at the service stations, when those that didn’t have the money to pay needed repairs, gas, or tires on their car. He came home more than once with things that left his wife shaking her head, including a donkey, Italian scooter and a homemade chariot constructed from a fifty-five gallon barrel and old trailer frame. After a second retirement he was employed for fifteen years by the Elgin Independent School District in Support Services maintaining and driving school buses. He worked there until the day before his most recent hospitalization and was fully intent upon returning to work as soon as he could regain his strength to do so. In his spare time he repaired lawn mowers, raised cattle and a garden every year. A vacation was a trip to the river or Somerville Lake to go cat fishing with his brothers and family. Although he felt he fell short as a singer, he loved music, especially when it came from his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He encouraged them all to pursue music and express their talents for the glorification of the Lord.

His greatest contribution in life was as a Dad and role model to his children and as a grandfather to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife Fay and their five children. Liston and wife Joniel, Ronny and Wife Cindy, Jerald Ray Jr. “Guy” and wife Paula, Daughters Lori Crim, Rhonda Siegmund and husband Wayne all living in the Elgin area; fourteen grandchildren, Reggie Crim and wife Brittany, Tara Aldridge and husband BJ, Jason Crim and wife Valerie, Jeff Crim and fiancé Kamie, Wes Rankin and wife Jenna, Aaron Crim and wife Megan, Lana Crim and husband Phillip, Amanda Harvey and husband Barry, Ashley Kyser and husband KC, Dayna Crim, Jamie Early and husband Travis, Colton Siegmund, Kayla Siegmund, and Caitlyn Crim; eighteen great-grandchildren, Victoria Aldridge, Bryan “Bubba” Aldridge, Ava Rodriguez, Izzy Crim, Kenzie Crim, Ethan Rodriguez, Rayleigh Crim, Kiley Kyser, Skylar Crim, Braelynn Crim, Kennedy Crim, Weston Kyser, Lucy Crim, Masyn Crim, Cecily Rankin, Kellan Harvey, Camille Harvey, and Bethany Crim.
