James Burns, 92
James Edward Burns, 92, of Clarktown, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999 at Best Care Convalescent Center in Wheelersburg.
He was born May 21, 1907, in Portsmouth, a son of the late Charles and Minnie Widdig Burns. He retired July 1, 1972 as a carman from Norfolk and Western Railway Company with 45 years of service, was of the Protestant faith, and a former member of the Railroad union.
He was preceded in death, Dec. 1, 1981 by his wife, Gladys Hancock Burns, whom he married in 1926. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Han (Marjorie) of Weirton W.Va.; one brother Harold Burns of Clarktown; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by one son, David Burns, and one sister, Margaret Buckle.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ervin Dodson Funeral home in Minford
