Harlan Columbus Ford passed away peacefully July 6, 1994.

He was born in Woolridge, Tennessee February 14, 1897 to James Harlan and Mary Ann Hayes Ford. He had his world War I training at Ohio University, served in the Army for four years and later in the Reserves for five. He then met and married his beautiful bride, Anna Marie Giles, September 10, 1921 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Harlan was employed by Continental Oil Company. He later took a position as Yard Master for the Western Pacific Railroad until his retirement. He received his 50 year pin as a member of the Masonic Kaibab Lodge #25 F& AM. He was a member of the American Legion. Harlan received a 75 years Medal, inscribed "A Nation Remembers," for the World War I Anniversary, from the United States Government. He lived a rich, full life. He was a lover of the Kentucky Derby, travel, golf, baseball and his own home grown tomatoes. He was remarkably lucid until the end. His strength of character, dignity, self-discipline, his quick wit, honesty, dependability, compassion that could touch him to tears from time to time-are endearing qualities that will always be remembered by his family.

Harlan's family expresses appreciation for his dear neighbors and for the compassionate care received at Doxey Hatch.
