Malcom Lee Murphy, Jr. passed away at his home in Moore, Okla. on Wednesday, March 29, 2000 at the age of 71.

He was born on April 22, 1928 in El Reno, Oklahoma and lived much of his life in Shawnee, Norman and Moore. In addition to graduating from Shawnee High School, he attended both Oklahoma Baptist University and Purdue University where he studied Mechanical Engineering. Starting at an early age, by working with his father, Mr. Murphy worked for nearly sixty years building, refurbishing and servicing power plants throughout most of the United States, Central and South America. His favorite thing was trout fishing on the White River below Bull Shoals Dam near Cotter, Arkansas, where just last year he caught a trophy-size Brown Trout. He had also enjoyed teaching and participating in classes at the Oklahoma City Computer Users Group. Mr. Murphy had been a member of the First Christian Church of Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Mr. Murphy is survived by his wife Annette, to whom he was married on May 1, 1949; his son Malcom Lee "Kelly" Murphy III and his son William Henry Brandon "Bill" Murphy; all of the home in Moore. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Ann Higgins of Sugarland, Texas and an aunt Francis Dailey of Oklahoma City, as well as a number of nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father Malcom Lee Murphy, Sr. and mother Marguerite Murphy.

Services will be held at the John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel in Moore, Friday, March 31st at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Marshall Howard officiating.
