Mr. Melvin Franklin Edwards, 80, of Hedgesville, died Friday at NMS Health Care in Hagerstown, MD.
Mr. Edwards, born in Martinsburg, was the son of the late Gilbert Arvin Edwards and Texie Viola Faircloth Edwards. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by an infant son, Richard Clay Edwards.
He was the owner/operator of Mel's Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. He enjoyed playing gospel and bluegrass music at nursing homes, hospitals and many other civic events.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Catherine Rudy Edwards; two sons, Jeffrey Franklin Edwards and wife Dina of Martinsburg, Dennis Patrick Edwards and wife Cassie of Hedgesville; one daughter,Beverly Gail Edwards Ponton and husband Randy of SC; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
The family received friends 6-8pm, Sunday, November 8, 2015 at the Brown Funeral Home of Martinsburg, WV.
The funeral services were held at 3pm, Monday, November 9, 2015 at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Dennis Jackson officiating.
Burial was made in the Hedgesville Assembly of God Cemetery.
