Danny “Dan” Wells, 59, of Redwood Falls died at his home on Monday, June 11, 2012. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. June 14 from Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls, followed by military honors.

Danny Duane Wells, the son of Duane and Audrey (Benson) Wells, was born August 23, 1952 in Gaylord. He grew up in Redwood Falls and was baptized and confirmed at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. While attending Redwood Falls High School, Dan excelled in basketball, football, and baseball. He had an amazing throwing arm and “ran like a deer.” Dan graduated from Redwood Falls High School in1971 and then enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Turkey and Greenland. Following his honorable discharge, Dan returned to Redwood Falls. In the ensuing years he lived in many places – his favorites being Alaska and Key West, Fla. – but spent most of his time back home in Redwood Falls. Dan planned to eventually relocate to Nebraska to be with his daughter and grandchildren.
Dan was formerly married to Leslie Prouty and then Autumn’s mother, Kris (Koerner) Langseth. He loved spending time with his daughter, Autumn, and his grandchildren. Dan enjoyed playing ball with Autumn’s dog “Merle Haggard.” He loved animals, hunting, fishing, golfing, and playing baseball. Dan played on the Red Birds baseball team and was a huge racing fan. Dan umpired baseball, refereed football games, and enjoyed going to the grandkids’ baseball games. He played the harmonica and loved Blues music. Dan attended “Saturday in the Park” Blues festival in Sioux City, Iowa every year. He had a gift of gab and was a great storyteller. Dan loved having cookouts with family and friends. He occasionally liked to walk the dog.
Dan was devoted to his daughter and grandkids and talked about them all the time. He was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. Dan is survived, and will be deeply missed, by his daughter Autumn Wells (and Johnny Freeman) of South Sioux City, Neb.; grandchildren Keagan Danielson, Kadyn Danielson, and Zoe Danielson all of South Sioux City; his mother Audrey Wells of Redwood Falls; his sister Susan (Terry) Dallenbach of Morton; brother Kelly (Patti) Wells of Rosemount; many aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his father Duane Wells; granddaughter Olivia Freeman; nephew Josh Dallenbach; aunts and uncles.
Blessed be his memory.
