James Blaine Jeffers, Sr., age 73 of Shade, died Wednesday evening, Nov. 4, 2015 at his home. Born Aug. 12, 1942 in Shade, he was the son of the late Franklin Curtis Jeffers and Mildred Bell Ruth Jeffers.

A graduate of Shade High School, he was employed as a machinist for over 48 years, working at Abex, Corp. and Athens Mold and Machine. He had also been employed at the Rollerbowl earlier in life, and Jeffries Mining Equipment in Columbus. He was a member of Constitution Lodge 426 F&AM, New Marshfield and the Grange. He was a lifelong area resident and where he resided on the family farm. Jim was known for his laugh and his whistle. He was very interested in his family genealogy.

Jim is survived by a daughter, Debora (Jeff) White of Shade; three sons- James B. (Debbie) Jeffers, Jr., Joseph (Emily) Jeffers, and Jeffrey (Gina Currens) Jeffers all of Athens; eight grandchildren- Joshua (Christine) White, Daisy (Dave Smith) White, Jacob (Nikki) White, James B. “JJ” Jeffers III, Andrew Jeffers, Josie Tolley, Allissa Jeffers and Jeffrey Bryce Jeffers; seven great grandchildren- Doris, Danny, Amanda, Hannah and Jacob White, George Allan Tolley and Javen Tolley; three sisters- Juinietta Clounch of Ft. Myers, Fla., Mary (Sam) McGrath of Canal Fulton and Rose (John) Myers of Albany; two brother- Franklin (Donna) Jeffers, Jr. of Athens and Floyd Thomas (Sue) Jeffers of Canal Fulton; several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Jean Kasler Jeffers in 2002.

Funeral service will be conducted Monday 1:00 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with Pastor Paul Elswick officiating. Burial will be in Jeffers Cemetery, Shade. Friends may call Sunday 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Constitution Lodge 426 F&AM will hold Masonic rites Sunday at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
