George died before January 1866, when Mary filed to administer his estate in Benton CO, TN, and the court laid out a year support for Mary and her family. Mary filed for settlement of the estate with the court in January 1868. The two Cole children are shown in the household of Theophilus Presson in the 1870 Federal Census.
Theophilus had children from his first marriage, and Theophius and his second wife, Mary, had five known children together. Some of these children are buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Makanda, Jackson CO, IL, along with Theophilus' second wife, Mary.

He was elected Constable in Benton County's 6th District in 1848.
