Jewel Marie Jackson, 91 of Wayne, WV, went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, March 9, 2018 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Pastors Fred Ferguson and Rick Perdue. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Wayne, WV. She was born January 17, 1927 in Fort Gay, WV, the daughter of Golden and Mae Crabtree Bartram. Jewel retired from Farmer’s Home Administration after 27 years of service. She was a faithful member of the Wayne Baptist Church for much of her life, where she served as secretary and organist. She also served as secretary and treasurer of the American Baptist Women. Jewel loved to quilt on Tuesdays with Wayne Baptist Church Sewers and enjoyed going to lunch following Sunday services with her “Lunch Bunch” friends, Lou Webb, Ernestine Rutherford, LaWassa Varney, Stella Ferguson and Anna Lee Damron. She had two special church friends, Pat Perry and Jean Artis. Also preceding her in death was her husband of 54 years, Bill Jackson and a brother Ray Bartram. Survivors include her two daughters, Malinda “Susie” Maynard and husband, Dan of Lavalette, WV, Peggy Sowards and husband, Roger of Wayne, WV; two sons, Keith Jackson and wife, Eva, Joe Jackson and wife, Kimberly, all of Wayne, WV; a sister, Pearl Gladys of Warner Robins, GA; a brother, Junior Bartram of Fort Gay, WV; eight grandchildren, Michael Jackson and wife, April, Amber Thompson-Foster and husband, Sean, Jared Thompson, Jason Thompson and wife, Miranda (their father, Randy Thompson), Charley Jo Frasher (George Richardson), Carl Franklin Frasher (their father, Charlie Frasher), Riley Jackson and Cassady Jackson; six great-grandchildren, Chase and Brayden Jackson, Jackson and Parker Sowards, Karleigh and Ellie Thompson; six step-grandchildren, Kevin Maynard and wife, Amanda, Kim Maynard, Jennifer Maynard, Roger Sowards, Jr. (Greta) Michael and Joey Sowards; four step-great grandchildren, Cody Maynard (Mason), Jaden and Jaylen Adkins, Lily, Lucas and Farrah Sowards; one great-great grandchild, Aurora Maynard; a special friend and co-worker, Helen Taylor of Hamlin, WV. Friends may call from 6 to 9 pm Monday at Morris Funeral Home, Wayne, WV. Special thanks to the Wayne EMS, the Doctors and Staff at Cabell Huntington Hospital Emergency Room, the Marshall Surgical Team and the SICU Doctors and Nurses. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
