Betty Lou VanDenBerghe, age 52, died on January 8, 1990 in St. George, Utah.

Born February 2, 1937 in Wink, Texas to Ernest and Emma Jean Dalton Megenity. Married Harold VanDenBerghe on March 22, 1955 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was a dedicated community servant. Served on Kanab City Council, first President of the Kanab Variety Arts Council, member Kanab Library Board. She was recognized as Utah's Outstanding Community Volunteer in 1985. At the time of her death she was Operations Officer at Zions Bank in Kanab.

Survivors include her husband, Harold, Kanab; mother, Emma Megenity, Salt Lake City; three children, Gregg and Sari Swapp, Matthew and Paula VanDenBerghe, all of Cedar City; Joseph and Yvette VanDenBerghe, Ogden; sisters, Mary Ellen Megenity, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Thomas (Ruth) Wilson McKean, Gunlock; seven grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 11, 1990 at 7 p.m. in the Kanab LDS Stake Center, and Saturday, January 13, 1990 at 1 p.m. at Eastman, Evans & Early Mortuary in Salt Lake City.
Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery, Salt Lake City, under the direction of Mosdell Mortuary of Kanab.
