~OBITUARY OF JEANETTE POWELL

Jeanette POWELL died Wednesday morning, April 02, 2008, at her home at Dunaway Manor in Guymon where she was cared for lovingly by the staff there for the past six years. She had been in failing health for some time.

Jeanette was born Jeanette MONTELL August 19, 1926 in Alamo, Texas. As an infant she and her family moved to Lawrence, Kansas where she grew up. In 1941 she met and married Jerry B. POWELL. They then lived in the northeastern Kansas area and, briefly, in the Oklahoma Panhandle. During the late 40's they moved to northern Idaho where they raised their family and in 1966 moved back to the farm northwest of Hooker. She and Jerry moved to Guymon in 1991.

Jeanette enjoyed her home and needlework. Until just the past few years she could be found always with a project underway.

She studied the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses during the early 50's and was baptized in 1952. Through the years she has always clung to the Bible's promise of a paradise earth and resurrection to life everlasting in that paradise.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Jerry, and her parents, Ralph and Georgia (Uttinger) MONTELL.

She is survived by her sister Helen (Warren) BEST of Lawrence, Kansas, four children: Charles (Mary) POWELL of Guymon, Bill (Bonnie) POWELL, Willa (James) WEIS, and Phyllis (Jerry) DIEDRICH, all of Hooker. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren and one niece. She will be missed by all.

Graveside Services will be held Saturday April 5th at 4:00 pm at the Hooker Cemetery with Mike Nixon of the Perryton, Texas congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses officiating.

Services are being conducted under the direction of the Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
