Lucille I Behrend, age 81, of Shepherd passed away Saturday April 16, 2011, at Covenant-Cooper Hospital in Saginaw. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 20 at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent Depaul Catholic Church in Shepherd.

Lucille was born Dec. 9, 1929 in Shepherd to George and Muzetta (Cole) Wonsey. She married William Junior Behrend June 21, 1952 in Shepherd; he preceded her in death in 2007.

Lucille worked outside of her home at Central Michigan University, Alma College, Dr. Chamberlain's office and at the Broomfield Hospital.

She was a grandma to many, as Lucille watched many children over the years. Her passion was her family and children. She was an extraordinary cook that loved to make sure all her family was together for meals at the holidays.

She is survived by her four children, Sue Ann (Allan) Knivila of Midland; Debbie (Tom) Gault of Alma; Pete (Deanna) Behrend of Alma; and John (Patty) Behrend of Mt. Pleasant; eight grandchildren; brother, Merrit (Faye) Wonsey of Shepherd; sister, Carol (Harry) Cassidy of Manton; and her extended family Bob ad Sue Gates and their children Kyle and Jenna Gates

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband William Jr. and brothers George, Orville, Arnold, and Lowell Wonsey.
