HAWKINS, Jane G. Age 85, of Washington Twp., died on December 9, 2014 at Brighton Gardens, after a year's long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born on June 7, 1929, in Joplin, MO to Herbert and Hazel Guthals. Jane outlived her parents and siblings, Betty, Frankie and Keith. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Donald and daughter, Laurie. She was predeceased by her son, Jeffrey, and will be missed by daughter- in-law, Debbie in Oklahoma, and her grandchildren there and in Dayton. Jane graduated in 1947 from Dayton Fairview H.S. and Miami University of Ohio (class of 1951), where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority and Secretary of the Student-Faculty Council. She taught elementary grade children in Dayton, Ann Arbor and U.S.A.F children in Okinawa, Japan. Jane's many, artistic talents included craft making and she co-owned a craft and greeting card shop in Centerville. She enjoyed playing bridge and traveled world-wide with her husband, visiting every continent except Antarctica. She was a great help to her attorney husband, H. Donald Hawkins, serving as his legal secretary for many years. Don would like to thank the nurses, aides and staff of Brighton Gardens and Hospice of Dayton for the wonderful care given Jane. She was a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church, 7001 Far Hills Ave., whose Pastor, Eric Pasanchin, will conduct the funeral service. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00P.M., on Monday, December 15, 2014, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, with the funeral service to follow at 5:00P.M. A gathering of family and friends will follow after the service until 7:00P.M. at the funeral home. Private family burial.
