Guy L. Smith, age 89, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan died Saturday, December 13, 2003 at the Gratiot Community Hospital in Alma, Michigan. Guy was born October 4, 1914 in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of Lloyd and Norma Kanine Smith.
Guy was a self employed carpenter who built homes in the Mt. Pleasant area with his wife, Hester. He mostly enjoyed his wood working and he loved his family especially his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandsons.
Guy is survived by his wife, Hester of Mt. Pleasant; three sons, Ray and Jacquelyn of Mt. Pleasant, Roger of Shepherd, and Gary and Janice of Shepherd; two daughters, Shirley Curtiss of Blanchard and Betty and Glen Stiff of Mt. Pleasant; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; two great great grandsons; a brother, Pearl Smith of Mt. Pleasant; and a sister, Argie Kappler of Mt. Pleasant.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald; and a sister, Ethel Edwards.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, December 16, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. from the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Dr. Joseph Frankenfield officiating. Interment followed at the Chippewa Township Cemetery in Isabella County, Michigan. Memorial contributions were suggested to the Pine River Health Care Center.
