November 5, 2015

Ann Louise Barber Ferrell passed away at the home of her son on November 5, 2015, after a long illness.

Ann was born in the Panama Canal Zone to Colonel Homer G. Barber and Elsie Barber on August 27, 1947. She was an Army brat, reared in West Point, NY, Albuquerque, NM, and Joliet, IL. She attended Michigan State University but spent most of her life in Milan, Tennessee.

She retired from the Milan Arsenal after 40 years. Ann loved any kind of animal and made sure that the neighborhood dogs, cats and occasional possum had food and water. She enjoyed having dinner parties for her friends, do-it-yourself projects around her home and had an entrepreneurial spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Andrew Edward Ferrell.

She is survived by her son, Charles Ellis Ferrell of Memphis, TN, her three brothers, David K. Barber of Las Vegas, Nevada, Dwight V. Barber or Albuquerque, New Mexico and Philip H. Barber of Knoxville, Tennessee and her beloved dog, Gurley.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 15th at 1pm. Arrangements are being handled by Medina Funeral Home.

Special thanks and appreciation go to Cecil Humphreys and Nellie Johnson Shaw (“Bea”) of Memphis, Tennessee and Methodist Hospice and Medina Funeral Home for their professional efforts, dedication, and kindness. The family would also like to thank Angie Caldwell Wilson and Patrick O’Keefe for their unwavering love and support.

Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, Semper Fi Fund, or other charities offering assistance to Veterans.
