Sylvia "Susie" Maria Louise Griffith, 94, of Twin Falls passed away Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Brookdale Assisted Living Center in Twin Falls.
Susie was born on December 12, 1920 in Gothenburg, Sweden the daughter of Filip and Maria Carlson. She moved to the U.S. with her family as a toddler settling in Chicago. She grew up and attended schools in Chicago. In 1956 the family moved to Southern California. Susie worked various occupations in the banking industry including escrow and real estate.
On May 9, 1970, Susie married Gordon Marks Griffith in Los Angeles, CA. Together they raised four children, Larry Ellis, Stephen Griffith, Janet Beaty and Corrie Weigle. In 1979, they moved to Twin Falls, Idaho. Susie and Gordon were very involved in the Twin Falls Reformed Church, where they served in the jail and prison ministries together. She was a member of the Idaho Chaplains Corp and Gideon's International.
Susie loved the times spent with her family. She also enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, dancing and her church work.
Susie is survived by her four children, Larry Ellis of Canyon Lake, CA; Stephen Griffith of San Francisco, CA; Janet Beaty of Dallas, Texas and Corrie Weigle of Alexandria, Virginia; her 10 grandchildren, Rick , Scott, and Kelly Beaty, Ella and Lewis Griffith, Julie Proxmire, Valerie Jacobson, Stephanie Kennedy, Scott Ellis and Jodie Ellis, as well as her 8 great grandchildren, Taylor, James, Trevor, Kyle, Jeff, Christopher, Breanna and Jake, and her great-great grandson, Michael. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Gordon Griffith.
A celebration of Susie's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Reynolds Funeral Chapel, 2466 Addison Ave. East, Twin Falls with Pastor Brian Vriesman officiating. Reception to follow.
Burial will then follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
A viewing for family and friends will take place on Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Reynolds Funeral Chapel as well as on Thursday from 1:00 until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be given in Susie's name to the Twin Falls Reformed Church.
