----------
Duane "Duke" Wilbur Evans of Swartz Creek, St. Helen and Sebring, FL, passed away on September 20, 2015, at the age of 85.

A celebration of Duke's life will be held at 12 PM on Sunday, October 4, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until the time of service. Duke was born in Flint on March 4, 1930, to Max and Twila (Wilbur) Evans.

He was a graduate of Flint Northern High School and served his country by joining the U.S. Navy. On August 27, 1949, he married his loving wife Rena J. Laughrey and together they celebrated 66 wonderful years. In 1970 Duke founded Duke's Tape Shack in Flint, which later became known as Duke's Car Stereo, and eventually grew the business to include locations in Bay City and Saginaw. He retired in 1988.

Duke was a loving husband, father, friend and life of the party. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren adored him. There was never a dull moment with Grandpa Duke around. He was a licensed pilot, rode a Harley, traveled the country in a motor home, water-skied, snowmobiled, golfed and loved to play poker. He involved his family in all of these activities and made an abundance of great friends along the way. He leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, hard work, rigorous play, and humor.

In addition to Rena, Duke leaves three daughters, Vicki (Michael) Winston, Lynn (Rob) Chiotti, and Sandy Evans; eight grandchildren, Erin Dalton, Paul (Irena) Dalton, Rachel Dalton, Rebecca (Daniel) Yowell, Jessica (Michael) Topash, R.J. (Alyssa) Chiotti, Benjamin (Amber) Levinthal, and Samantha Levinthal; five great-grandchildren, Rena Klanseck, Eddie Dalton, Alexander Yowell, Adrian Topash, and Efa Topash; sister Mary Stonhouse; sister-in-law Eileen Lawson; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Warren and Kenneth Evans; and brother-in-law George Lawson.

The family extends their sincerest appreciation to the caring staff at Hyde Park Memory Care, as well as Hometown Home Health and Hospice. Duke received exceptional care and shared lots of laughs with everyone involved in his care. For that we will be forever grateful.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, PO Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
