Mr. Gaston died Monday, Aug. 21, in a Lindale nursing home. He was born Jan. 26, 1939, in Troup to Stephen Miller Gaston and Bertha Elenor Shoemaker Gaston.
He was a Navy veteran serving from 1954 until 1959. Mr. Gaston was a retired floor covering contractor.
He was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Miller Gaston, and a son, Brandon Gaston.
Survivors include a son, Dewayne Gaston, Tyler; daughters, Karen Long, New Chapel Hill, Crista Gaston, Bossier City, La., Kaylon Ashley, Shreveport, La., Kindra Holden, Tampa, Fla; his mother, Bertha Gaston, Tyler; a stepdaughter, Gina Sanders, Dallas; a brother, James Gaston, Tyler; a sister, Wanda Spears, Tyler; nine grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
