Jacmer Leon Smith Sr. "Jac"

Our loving husband, father, grandpa and brother, Jacmer returned home peacefully to his Father in Heaven on July 17, 2002 surrounded by his loving family, after a long and valiant fight with cancer.

He was born on Dec. 13, 1930 to Edward E. and Arlene E. Smith.

He graduated from Granite High School, Class of 49. He married his high school sweetheart Viola I. Walters on January 20, 1950, marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

He was an accomplished business man and entrepreneur. He was the Vice President of Color Tile Corp. of Fort Worth Texas before returning to Salt Lake to open his family owned and operated business, Wallpaper City, that he built from the ground floor into a thriving business for over 15 years.

Jac was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he held many positions. His wife and family were his greatest joy in life. Jac and Viola raised six wonderful children, yet the family was completed by the addition of their spouses whom he loved as his own.

Survived by his loving wife Viola; children: Viola (Darrel) Millard, Jacmer Jr. (Judy) Smith, Vickie (Brian) Packer, Verna Hankins, Jeffery (Laurie) Smith, Valleri (Chris) Lyngle; 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; sisters: Eunice (Maurice) Jones, Gaylie (Vern) Green; brothers: Sterling Smith, Gordon (Gay) Smith; special family members James Hankins, Nanette Faulkner and many other wonderful family members and friends. Preceded in death by both parents, stepfather Rollie Shupe, grandson Justin Jeffery Smith, and great grandson Michael Shane Smith Jr.

The family would like to give many thanks to Harmony Hospice for the tender loving care given to our father especially that to Michelle, Ann and Melinda. You made our hard times easier.
