Patsy Marie Hampton Burke went home to be with the Lord on November 1, 2015 in Tyler at the age of 89. She was born on June 5, 1926 in Forney to Roy Mizell Hampton and Winnifred Lee Sory Hampton. She grew up in Dallas and the lower Rio Grande Valley, graduated from Mesquite High School and attended Texas Women's University and North Texas State. At North Texas she met Robert Chalmers Burke and they married on December 24, 1947. After college they moved to Midland, where they lived for 26 years. They moved to Van in 1979 and lived there for 36 years. They were members of the North "A" and Tennessee Church of Christ and the Ft. Worth and Jax Church of Christ in Midland. After moving to East Texas they were members of the Glenwood Church of Christ in Tyler, where she was a member for 36 years.She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Chalmers; brother Robert Lee Hampton; sister JoAnn Hampton Hackett; and brother Donald Winfred Hampton.Patsy is survived by her brother Charles Edwin Hampton; brother-in-law Jack Hackett; and sister-in-law Mildred Burke. She is also survived by her daughter Patricia Dawn Burke McNicol and husband Allan; sons Robert Chalmers Burke, Jr and William Francis Burke and wife Meredith; grandchildren Robert Davis McNicol and wife Mica, Christopher Burke Morton, Lauren Marie Burke, Robert Chalmers Burke III and wife Hannah, Rebecca Lyn Burke, and Daniel Evan Burke; great-grandchildren Ethan Bohnsack, Jane Hale, Rhys McNicol, Braeden McNicol, Garrett McNicol and Myla Burke; and many beloved nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at the Glenwood Church of Christ on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. with burial to follow at Cathedral In The Pines in Tyler. Arrangements are under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christian Homes and Family Services, 5476 Hollytree Drive, Tyler, Texas 75703 or Austin Graduate School of Theology, 7640 Guadalupe Street, Austin, Texas 78752-1333.
