Sammie Estelle Dempsey Thomas, 80, of Trumann, Arkansas, passed away Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 3, 1935, at Tupelo, Miss., to the late Samuel and Priscilla Leslie Dempsey.

Mrs. Thomas worked for Salant and Salant Co. in Trumann and for the East Arkansas Area Agency on Aging. She was a member of Corner Chapel Baptist Church. She was a seamstress and loved crocheting, word search puzzles and reading.

Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, six brothers and her husband, George Thomas.

Survivors include her sons, James Thomas of Trumann and Bobby Thomas of Dallas; four daughters, Edna Holt and Patricia Pommell, both of Bay, Sandra Graham of Loleta, Calif., and Tanya McClelland of Independence, Miss.; 14 grand-children, Joseph, Billie Jo, Michael, Stephan, Priscilla, Jerrie, Rickey Jr., Gary, Jenny, Zach, Billy, Jeremy, Harlan and Lindsey; 25 great-grand-children; four great-great-grand-children; and a brother, Calvin Dempsey of Conroe, Texas.

Chapel services were at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, Jonesboro, with burial in Nichols Cemetery.
