Richard Franklin Beeson was the second of five known children of Hugh Beeson (1819-1904) and Jane (went by Jennie) Fulp/Fulps Beeson (1818-1906) who married 25 Dec 1836 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina.

Richard married Eliza Jane (went by Jane) Stewart (1845-1924) on 25 Oct 1863 at Forsyth County, North Carolina.

Richard and Jane were the parents of eleven known children, namely:

1. Nancy Jane Beeson Stewart (1864-1929)
2. Joseph Franklin Beeson (1866-1947)
3. Ellen Albertine Beeson (1868-1882)
4. Hugh Augusta Beeson (1870-1933)
5. Polly Ann Beeson (1873-1885)
6. Amanda "Mandy" Beeson Swaim (1875-1974)
7. Mintha Emaline Beeson Wyre (1877-1969)
8. Martha Victoria Beeson Willard (1879-1938)
9. Richard Cornelius Beeson (1882-1955)
10. Sallie Beeson Yokeley (1884-1961)
11. Charlie Livingston Beeson (1887-1903)

In 1900 Richard and Jane and their three youngest children were living at Broad Bay Township, Forsyth County, North Carolina. Jane said she was the mother of eleven, nine living.
