Mr. Hester was retired from the Mississippi Capitol Police. He attended Liberty Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by wife Peggy Ann Holliday, parents, George Washington Hester Sr. and Annie Eva Moutry Hester, and sister Myrtle Hester Beasley and brother Jim Allen Hester.
Survivors include: son, James W Hester, Jr. and wife Emily Adams Hester of Jackson; grandson, Nathan James Hester; and brother, G.W. Hester, Jr. of Webster County.
