When Simon Neyhart died prematurely, his wife Elizabeth Ruth Neyhart and oldest son Samuel Nyhart moved the remaining family to the (then) booming Scranton area for better opportunities. Samuel became a moderately successful miller in La Grange and Tunckannock, as did his younger brother Jacob (1842-1922) after him in Scranton. When Samuel died around 1880, his wife Emily moved to son Charles' home in the mining town of Taylor.
