Roy Edward "Lanky" Lindsay, 91, passed away Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, at his home in Fort Worth.
Roy was born June 7, 1924, in Weatherford to Otis and Betty Lindsay.
He married his wife, Ruth, of 67 years on May 29, 1948.
He was the oldest of five children and had to leave school early and begin working to help support his single mother and siblings. He served on the Fort Worth Police Department as a motorcycle officer from 1949 to 1952. He was also an avid motorcycle enthusiast and a member of The Blue Knights motorcycle club. In 1953 he founded, Stripe-A-Zone, the first parking lot striping company in North Texas. Through his business, he mentored many young men and touched many lives. After his retirement in 1980, he and Ruth traveled in their motorhome extensively throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada. After many years of travel, they came out of retirement and founded Lindsay Pilot Car, where they escorted oversized loads across the country.
Survivors: Wife, Ruth; son, Gary Lindsay of Weatherford; his foster son, Rick Griffin and wife, Debbie, of Grand Saline; daughters, Debbie Callas of Fort Worth and Robbie Dunn and husband, Dan, of Fort Worth; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
