Col. Clock graduated from West Point in 1940. He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II, and also in Korea. Later he held posts in Germany and at the Pentagon. He retired from the United States Army in 1965. Then he was a professor of engineering at the Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. He earned a doctorate degree at the University of Florida at Gainesville. He was an avid golfer and an accomplished equestrian. Col. Clock was the father of two daughters and the grandfather of four.
