John Clarence "Jack" Whisenant, age 95, of Smyrna passed away Monday November 2, 2015. He was born in Keownville, Union County, Mississippi. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Johnston and Lillie Reed Whisenant; and four brothers: Zach, Dutch, Houston, and Hoyt; and his first wife, Nora Sullivan Whisenant. Jack moved to Georgia to work at Lockheed Martin in 1950, and retired in 1978. He was a member and deacon at Concord Baptist Church, and a Sunday school teacher for over 60 years. Jack was a Mason at the Nelms Lodge #323, Smyrna, and a Shriner International at the Yaarab Temple of Atlanta for over 60 years. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Concord Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Wilkins and Dr. Jeff Pennington officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Concord Baptist Church or Shriners Children's Hospital.

John Clarence "Jack" Whisenant, age 95, of Smyrna passed away Monday November 2, 2015. He was born in Keownville, Union County, Mississippi. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Johnston and Lillie Reed Whisenant; and four brothers: Zach, Dutch, Houston, and Hoyt; and his first wife, Nora Sullivan Whisenant. Jack is survived by his wife, Joyce McMurray Whisenant of Smyrna; his sons, David (Beverly) Whisenant of Smyrna, and Charles (Brenda) McMurray of Smyrna; his granddaughters, Melissa (Reed) Mayer of Ashburn, VA, and Patricia Ramsey of Douglasville; his great grandchildren, Chandler Mayer, Brychan Mayer, and Zachery Ramsey; he is also survived by his sister, Sara (Charles) Grisham of Beaufort, SC; and many nieces and nephews.
