Patsy Ruth Jennings was born on December 9, 1927 in the Clark Community of Van Zandt County, Texas.

A fifth generation Texan, her parents were Jesse Roy Jennings and Minnie Myers Jennings.

Patsy grew up on a farm with a large family. She was the 7th child of nine born to Roy and Minnie.

Her brother Russell and sister Lois Delora preceded her in death before she was born.

In the Jennings family each member of the family went to church every Sunday at the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church and worked hard in the fields picking cotton, tomatoes and shelling peanuts. At the little country school that Patsy attended there were two teachers that she was immensely fond of, Mr. and Mrs. R.A. Caperton. When Patsy was in the seventh grade she was one of two girls and two boys to win a citizenship award. The awards were determined by an achievement test taken by the outstanding seventh grade students from each school. The winners took a trip to Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico. The first stop was in Dallas to hear the "Early Birds" broadcast from the WFAA radio studio in the Baker Hotel.

Patsy attended Grand Saline High School. She was a good student and made good grades. She graduated May 22, 1945. Patsy was elected as vice president of her class. Patsy was also chosen as one of the top three graduating members of her Senior Class to receive a Scholastic Achievement Scholarship to the Centenary College of Louisana. She never used her scholarship. When asked why she did not go to college, she remarked that it was too far from her Mama.

After graduating high school, Patsy moved to Dallas where she went to work at the Prudential Insurance Company. She made many friends while working there. One night Patsy and her friends decided to go bowling. They did not know how to bowl, but the manager of the bowling alley took care of that. he approached a group of young men who were regulars and asked them if they would teach the young ladys how to bowl.

They said it was love at first sight when Jerry taught Patsy how to bowl.

One year later, Patsy Ruth Jennings and Jerry Dwane Rhodes were married at the home of her sister, Vera Kirby, in Grand Saline on June 15, 1946. They were married on what was said to be the hottest day ever.

Their marriage lasted 64 years, until Jerry's passing on November 7, 2010.

Sometime after moving to Dallas, Patsy started going by Pat. Pat was a Den Mother for her sons' Cub Scout Troop, a member and President of her church's WMU, a 5th Grade Sunday schoolteacher, and a very early member of Casa View Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. Pat worked as a Realtor/Broker for Jo Haptonstall Realtors. Jo and Pat were cousins and graduated high school together. In the late 1960's, Pat did very well in real estate, being a top seller in her field. She left the business for several years and then her and Jerry went back to work for Jo and stayed with the company until it closed it's doors in the mid 2000's.

As Pat was overtaked by Alzheimer's she spoke daily of her Daddy and Mama. She had fond memories of her life growing up on the farm. She is now at peace.

Pat is survived by three children: Jerry Dwane Rhodes Jr. of Mesquite, David and wife Cathe Rhodes of Woodland Park, Colorado, Carol and husband Tommy Huntington Jr. of Dallas, Texas.
