Ray Edward Roberts, 69, of Meadowview, VA, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2015, at the Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA. He was a retired custodian from the Washington County School Systems. He loved camping and fishing with his family and friends.
Ray was born November 27, 1945, in Gilbert, WV, a son of the late Luther Boyd Roberts (1915-1978) and Corda Dove Walker-Roberts (1922-2013). In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Zella Marie Roberts-Calliham (1942-2005) and Della Roberts (Deceased); four brothers, Vernon Denvol Roberts (1939-2005), Creed Roberts (Deceased), Leroy Roberts (1949-2004), and Delbert Roberts (Deceased); and his father and mother-in-law, William Lanta "Lantie" Cline (1923-Deceased) and Velva Riffe-Cline (1926-Deceased).
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Carnell Truby Cline-Roberts (1947–2017); two sons, Robert Roberts of Linwood, NC, and William Roberts & wife Goldie Roberts, also of Linwood, NC; one sister, Stella Roberts-Lester & husband Tommy Lester of Bristol, TN; one brother, Charles Roberts of Marion, VA; sister-in-law, Christine Cline-Roberts of Summerset, KY; and a brother-in-law, Larry Cline of Eagle Rock, VA.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at 11:00 with Reverend Carl Cline and Reverend James Cline officiating at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger, WV. Burial will follow in the Roberts Cemetery at Ikes Fork, WV.
