Jerry Richard Walton, 77, of Redmon, Illinois, formerly of Evansville, Indiana, passed away at 2:35 p.m. Sunday, November 1, 2015, at Paris Community Hospital. He was retired from Meisler's Trucking of Evansville after many years as a truck driver and maintenance supervisor.

He was born February 26, 1938, in Quincy, Illinois, the son of the late Oscar and Doloros (Hagerbaumer) Walton. He married Charlene "Charlie" (Jones) Armstrong on November 28, 1993, in Henderson, Kentucky, and she survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Shawn (Sheila) Walton of Redmon, Scott (Jessica) Armstrong of Newman, Illinois, and Craig (Tracy) Armstrong of Sanford, North Carolina; two daughters, Dawn (Jeremiah) Meier of Elbridge, Missouri, and Donna Walton of St. James, Missouri; two sisters, Marva Kimbrell and Virginia Hoelscher both of Elsberry, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Barbara and Janice Walton both of Troy, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Stephanie Walton, a son, Steven Armstrong, and two brothers, Donald and Larry Walton.

Mr. Walton was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved music, and especially enjoyed playing the guitar and singing with his children and grandchildren.

For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Edgar County Humane Association or to the Hospital & Medical Foundation of Paris.

SERVICE INFORMATION

At his request, all services will be private. Interment will be private at a later date. Templeton Funeral Home of Paris is in charge of arrangements.
