Frances Elizabeth Thompson Horton, a 90-year resident of Austin, went to be with Jesus October 30, 2015. She was born in Waco, Texas, November 4, 1918, to Samuel and Hallie Thompson. After graduating from Austin High School, Frances, “Puggy,” married Ogle Eugene “Chick” Horton, who preceded her in death in 1990.
Their children are Gene Horton (“Chuggy”), Michael (deceased), Kathy Horton, Becky Gregory, and Jane Beers. Grandchildren are Angela Sorensen, Paul Horton, Genevieve Kinney, Genesis Krzyzaniak, Leah Marie Krzyzaniak, Craig Browder, Kara Gregory, Lynn Gregory, Ryan Beers, Julie Beers, and Carly Beers. Great grandchildren are Rachel Horton-Wenger, Christiana Sorensen, Lance Sorensen, Kyle Horton, Ellar Coltrane Salmon, Evelyn Womack, Liam Krzyzaniak, Jackson Browder, and Owen Browder. Great, great granddaughter is Audrey Grace Horton-Wenger.
Frances, “Nonnie,” was much beloved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. Her home was a welcoming gathering spot and refuge for all. The family and friends laid body to rest at a graveside ceremony on Wednesday, November 4, “Nonnie’s” 97th birthday, next to her husband and son.
Friends and family will celebrate Frances’ life at a memorial service Tuesday, November 17, at 11:00 AM, at Kinney Avenue Christian Fellowship Church, 1801 Kinney Avenue, Austin, Texas. Reception with food to follow at the church Fellowship Hall.
Frances lived by the motto to LOVE PEOPLE without judgment, because as she would say “you can find something good in everyone.”
