Death Has Come To Mrs. Dorothy Burke

At her home near Junior Furnace, and with seven of her ten children at her bedside, death came Thursday afternoon at 4 O'clock to Mrs. Dorothy Burke, widow of John Burke, She had been ill the greater part of the winter.

Mrs. Burke was born December 18th, 1823, being 85 years, three months and 12 days of age. She was the daughter of Christopher and Nancy Songer. She is survived by one brother, Shelton Songer, of Talapossa, GA. and one sister, Mrs. Jemima Whaley, of Pittsburg, Pa. and seven sons and three daughters: Mary Jane Davis, of Wellston, O.; Mrs. Peter Feurt, of Irwin, Mo; John Burke of Arkansas; Albert Burke of Ironton, O; W.S. Burke of Franklin Furnace, O.; Charles Burke of Wheelersburg, O; Jesse Burke of Franklin Furnace, O; Frank Burke of Portsmouth, O; and Elizabeth Smedley at home.

Mrs. Burke was a woman of fine character and during the many years she resided at Junior Furnace had the love and esteem of the whole community. She was devoted to her home and reared a find family of sons and daughters. Most of her life she was a devoted member of the Methodist Episcopal Church.

The Funeral services will he held Saturday afternoon at 2 O'clock from the residence at Junior Furnace. Interment will be at the Haverhill cemetery.
