June Louise Carton Kennedy died peacefully on Monday, October 26, 2015 in Martinsburg, WV at the age of 96. She was the wife of the late Jack E. Kennedy, who passed away on December 28, 1975.
June is survived by her three daughters, Judith Kofoet of Hagerstown, MD, Janis Hedberg of Cary, NC, and Jean Bibby of Falling Waters, WV. 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was born on April 26, 1919 in Massena, NY and was the daughter of Harold and May Carton. She was predeceased by her brother, Jim Carton and her sister, Joyce Carton Longshore.
She graduated from Potsdam State College with a Bachelor’s degree in Education and received a Master’s degree in Special Education from Syracuse University.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 3:30 PM at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg, WV. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the “Hugs Fund” at Clary Grove (formerly Heartland of Martinsburg), 209 Clover St., Martinsburg, WV 25404. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Clary Grove for their dedicated care and support of June over the years she resided there.
