Billy Edward Kidd
Born: March 26, 1942
Died: September 22, 2013

Billy Edward Kidd, age 72, left us to be at peace with his Lord on September 22, 2013, after a long struggle with cardiovascular disease and cancer.

Billy was born March 26, 1942 to Alfred and Polly Ann Kidd in the small west Texas town of Roscoe, the youngest of 10 children. After attending Loraine High School, he worked in the oil fields around Abilene, Texas, where he always said he learned how to take 15-minute naps.

In the early 1960s, he moved to Fort Worth, Texas attracted by the city, green grass and trees. He worked for Lockheed Martin (then General Dynamics) for approximately 30 years, first on the flight line and then as a carpenter.

He married Marilyn Dillon, his wife of 32 years and they made their home in Fort Worth.

In 1992, after his medical retirement, they relocated to Washington. In the following years, they resided in Fort Worth, Texas and Puyallup, Washington.

He had a great Christian faith and love of family, which helped him overcome many health obstacles. Billy enjoyed people immensely -- never meeting a stranger he couldn’t spark a conversation with.

During his life, he enjoyed country western music, dancing, fishing, dominoes, card and board games, vegetable gardening and traveling and seeing the country. He particularly loved the northwest, enjoying the mountains, rivers and trees; however, he never lost his loyalty to the Dallas Cowboys.

Billy had fond memories of visiting the Redwood forests, the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Graceland, and Mount Rushmore; walks with family and friends, planting vegetables with family, the family birthday and holiday celebrations, driving trips between Washington, California and Texas, and the antics of Laddie, the late family Scottish Terrier. He maintained a positive outlook even when facing many health issues.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Ira, Wilson, Wayne and sisters Alpha, Opal, Ruth, and Frances.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Kidd; son Trevor Kidd and wife Alex of Seattle; brother Jack and wife Linda of Fort Worth, Texas; sister Bobbie Armstrong of Fort Worth; beloved nephew David and his family of Arlington, Texas and several nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews.

Private Memorial services for family and close friends to be held in the family’s home town in Texas in mid October.

The family extends their thanks to the University of Washington Rehabilitation Unit and Good Samaritan Hospital for all their loving care of Billy in his last few months, and to Curnow Funeral Home for their compassionate assistance during these difficult days.
